Whole 30 Day 2

Breakfast this morning was on the go, because we were late for CrossFit and had to drive across town to drop the boys off first. This is what a quick breakfast looks like:

It was actually pretty nasty trying to choke down a hard boiled egg and coffee.

After CrossFit we met up with H's parents & the boys at Chipotle for lunch.
Salad with carnitas, chicken, tomato salsa and guacamole. I got double meat because I was STARVING. You better believe I chowed this whole thing (and it had 63g of protein).

We also hit up the grocery store yesterday and stocked the fridge for the week. That doesn't look like $300 worth of food does it?!

BERRIES! These are already almost gone, haha.

Dinner. Hubby charred the veggies a little, but oh well. Grass fed NY strip steak with yellow squash and zucchini. We love the grill in the summer time!

Memorial Day MURPH

Well, we survived "Murph!"

1 mile run
100 pull ups
200 push ups
300 squats
1 mile run

I broke it up and did the 1 mile run then 20 rounds of 5 pull ups, 10 push ups, 15 squats and 1 mile run.

The last time I did Murph was 2 years ago and I passed out in the middle of it. This time, I did pull ups without a band (which was insanely hard) and did about 50 man push ups before I switched to my knees. I ran my first mile @ 9:45 (which is a PR for this slow runner)!

I'm proud of myself for doing pull ups without a band, but it was by far the hardest thing. I was doing one pull up, drop, one pull up, drop. Ugh. My hands ripped out halfway in, so gripping the bar was like fire.

Time was 68:17. I was hoping to finish in under an hour, but I'm still proud of myself for finishing without a band. I really REALLY wanted to give up and use one... but some of my fellow CFers wouldn't let me :)

I'm also super proud of my H because he did the run with a 20# weighted vest.

Lt.Murphy must have been a BEAST because apparently he did this WOD regularly. Whew.

BEFORE (wad up with my funky hair?!)

AFTER!

And, my gnarly hands. It's been 2 days, and I still can't use my right hand to grip anything :/

H and I had a date night last night, and decided to use it as our cheat meal. We went totally crazy. I had pizza, dr. pepper and a brownie sundae. H had chicken fried chicken with fries, mashed potatoes and a apple pie a la mode. Typically, I'm ok with one cheat meal per week. We're strict paleo the rest of the week. However I really didn't think last night's food was worth it. I'm only 5 pounds from pre pregnancy weight with little C and I'm 3 pounds under pre preg weight with big C. My pants feeling baggy, getting compliments and feeling good about myself feels SOOO much better than pizza tastes. I can see myself (slowly) starting to lose a desire to eat most of that stuff. It makes me happy to see us making legit changes in our life. Not a fad, not a "do this to lose weight as fast as possible" but actual lifestyle habits that are GOOD. I woke up today feeling bloated, congested and with a headache. Bleh. Bring on the eggs and veggies this morning!

Here is some of our food from the weekend...pretty last minute/unplanned foods, but we're starting to get the hang of eating paleo in a pinch.

Have a great Memorial Day!

I only worked out twice last week :(

Weekly WOD's

Monday -
30 25# dumbbell hang cleans overhead
10 OH squat 45#
10 push press 45#
10 OH squat 45#
10 push press 45#
10 OH squat 45#

This was a crossfitmom.com WOD. Their WOD was just the 30 hang cleans, that really didn't do it for me, so I added the extra stuff :)

Tuesday -
1000m row
50 thruster 45#
30 pull ups (70lb assist)

I got this WOD from my old box. It was nice to see that I could hang in there with what they're doing.

I really miss the pull up bar! The only thing the gym has is this:

It's pretty annoying. But it's all I've got for now. Can you imagine a 6 month pregnant mama kipping a pull up on that thing? I'm sure it's quite amusing for those around me.

Thursday -
3 rounds:
20 air squats
20 pull ups (55lb assist)
10 dips (55lb assist)
14:30
Those dips KILLED me. Apparently I need to start working on dips more often.

I officially dislike working out at a gym. I cannot WAIT to get back to a crossfit box.

Pregnant Mama meet WODs.

I've been trying to get back into some WODs lately. So far things have been great. I feel great and nothing has been too painful or difficult.

Last week I did:
3 rounds -
7 OH squats (45#)
7 Push Press (45#)
7 Front Squats (45#)

3 rounds -
7 ring dips
7 burpees
15 squats
(that one crippled me the next day)

I did 2 other WODs but now I can't remember what they were... pregnancy brain.

I'm just making these WODs up as I go, but I'm thinking of modifying the main site WODs and starting to do those. Making them up myself is challenging!

Today I set out to finish this:

3 rounds:
400m walk (no more running for me, it's getting too uncomfortable)
20 med ball sit ups
20 KB swings (25#)

About halfway through I had a really sharp pain in the lower left part of my uterus. I quit working out, stood there and drank water for about 10 minutes. The pain didn't stop so I called it quits in the middle of the WOD. I really didn't want to... but I knew it was best. My plan from the beginning has been to only do what feels comfortable and quit when it feels uncomfortable.

It's really tough for me to workout and not give it 100%. Pregnancy exercise is definitely way different than pre-pregnancy. But, I'm sticking with it as long as I can!

I love myself

Ok, I didn't know what to title this post. So, I'm being random and loving towards myself.

There was a recent discussion on the "Health and Fitness" board about the BMI scale. Is it a good way to determine overall health for every person? I'm going to say no, but it's a start. According to this scale, I am overweight. Something about that still really bothers me. Maybe it's because I don't feel overweight. The BMI is a good starting point to determine a healthy range, but I know several people (myself included) who are healthy but deemed "overweight" by the dreaded BMI scale. Some people carry their weight differently! What about an athlete who is 5% body fat, but has a higher weight due to all his/her muscle? Obviously, they are healthy.... but not according to the BMI!

My weigh in this week wasn't completely awful.  I lost 0.6lbs. Considering my Krispy Kreme binge last week, I was thankful for any kind of a loss. I am now motivated for this week to see at LEAST a full pound lost.

This week I gave myself 2 goals.

1. Don't eat after 9pm
2. Eat under my 35 weekly point allowance.

Well, #1 is already a bust. I just stay up really late. And when I eat dinner at 6:00 or 6:30, I'm usually up for another 5 hours. That's a loooong time to go without eating, at least for me.

Crossfit is going REALLY well. If you don't know what it is, here is a link to my box: Edmond Crossfit. Working out with other people is so motivating. They're working as hard (or most of the time harder) than you and it helps keep me going. I also like the diversity. We do something different every day. I need that. And everyone up there is amazing. We all know each other, and can push each other. Let's be honest.... it's also a little competitive, which is RIGHT up my alley :) I don't think I've shared any CF pictures.... here are a few....
Me doing half moons. Those were actually pretty fun.

Hoover Ball! We 'took it easy' on Memorial Day for the WOD (workout of the day). We played volleyball with a 12 pound med ball. Seems easy and fun.... well, the fun part is true.

My team! We were supposed to make tough faces, and no one except for me did. But my face doesn't look tough, it's more frightening. Our team did win. =)

My hubby's team! The LOSERS!

And, an action shot of me. That was a heavy mother!!!
